DoD - The Warrior Ceremony

Scoria held her head high before the Fire Lord, unable look him in the eyes this time.  She could feel silent tears welling up in her eyes. 

Why do I feel this way? She thought.  Why do I feel so betrayed now, though I never cared before?

Scoria realized she was wrong.  She had always felt this way toward her mother.  She had just been hiding it, burying it where she hoped no one would ever find it.  But her efforts had been wasted.  She was about to break down during the most important ceremony of her life... in front of the Fire Lord...in front of the entire clan... in front of her mother. 

NO! 

Scoria squeezed her eyes shut, and took a breath.  I will not be weak.  This is the day the clan excepts me.  This is the day I become a warrior.
